Relatives from that period remember King Oran Randall's home having a “War Mother's Flag” with four stars in a window. During WWII, the mother's of children serving the military were encouraged to place a “War Mother's Flag” in her window. A blue star represented each service member who was alive, but in harms way (the mothers were honored as being “Blue Star Mothers”). A gold star meant that the service member had been killed (the mothers were respected as “Gold Star Mothers”). She died on Aug. 8, 1955 (at 68 years old). Exactly 3 months later, King Oran Randall, Sr. died on November 8, 1955 (at 72 years old).
