Ambrose Bull, Sr.

Son of Robert Bull married Rachel T. (believed to be “Taylor”), Ambrose Bull, Sr. was born about 1750 in Newbern, Craven, North Carolina.

In 1777, Ambrose Bull, Sr. married Elizabeth (Bute) Johnson in Newbern, Craven, North Carolina. The marriage ceremony was performed by a Justice of the Peace.

They had the following children:

  2. James Hogan Bull (Born June 23, 1780 in Newbern, Craven, North Carolina - Died August 25, 1840 in Yazoo City, Yazoo, Mississippi)
  3. Robert Bull (Born 1782 in Newbern, Craven, North Carolina - Died August 12, 1861 in Ashley, Arkansas)
  4. Susannah Bull (Born 1786 in Craven, North Carolina - 1887)
  5. Letitia Bull (1788 - )

Around March, 1779, Ambrose Bull, Sr. volunteered to serve in the Colonial Army as a private soldier. His company was under command of Captain (David or Charles) Roach. His term was six months.


The following is an excerpt from the “Tennessee DAR GEnealogical Records Committee Report: Unpublished Family Histories” (1991). We have since confirmed, through DNA evidence, that the below Ambrose Bull is the grandson of Thomas Bull, Sr.
