The father of Susanna(h) Harwell, who would later marry Thomas Bull, Sr., Ambrose Harwell is believed to have been born during 1673 in Lowestoft, Suffolk, England. However, there is some confusion in the records over his name. It could have been (John) Ambrose Harwell or (John) Ambrose Harwood. Consequently, his name has yet to be confirmed by accurate records.
On April 25, 1698, Ambrose Harwell (at age 25) married Elizabeth Browne in Lowestoft, Suffolk, England.
Ambrose and Elizabeth are believed to have had the following children:
- William Harwood (born during 1702 in Lowestoft, Suffolk, England)
- Susannah Harwood (born during 1704 in Halifax (Halifax County), North Carolina, United States - died during 1736 in Halifax (Halifax), North Carolina, United States)
