After college, Lucian found work as a U.S. Post Office Sub-Clerk in Brevard, North Carolina.

At age 22, he enlisted in the U.S. Army on October 1, 1942 at Camp Croft, South Carolina. He served in the U.S. Army until December 8, 1945.

Lucian Porcher Deavor died on May 25, 2009, at age 89. He was buried in “Gillespie Evergreen Cemetery”, Brevard (Transylvania County), North Carolina.1)
