In about 1825, Wiley Mitchell married Martha Patsy Wilkinson married Wiley Mitchell Son of William Wilbur Mitchell, Jr. and Catherine A. Moulder, Wiley Mitchell was born in Franklin County, Georgia during 1802.

Several genealogists confuse Wiley Mitchell (who lived in District 213) with Wiley Martin Mitchell, Jr. (who lived in District 263, and whose wife was named Mary) because these were two different men of approximately the same age living in Franklin County, GA. at the same time. However, U.S. Census records provide a clear distinction between the two men.
