Hannah N. Randal

Daughter of Oney Cypress Randal and Susannah (her full name may be “Susannah W. Wilkins”), Hannah N. Randal was born March 3, 1845 in Franklin Co., GA.

Andrew Jackson York - Date unknown (March 19, 1842 - Dec. 28 1938).

During 1865 (estimating from the date of first marriage provided by Andrew Jackson York on his 1930 U.S. Census), Hannah N. Randal married Andrew Jackson York (Born March 19, 1842 in Franklin Co. Georgia - Died Dec. 28 1938 in Pahokee, Florida) son of Rev. John Gratison York (1811–1864) and Anna Banks Thomason (1812 – 1894). 1)

There is a great deal of uncertainty regarding Hannah's date of death… and which children they had. But they are believed to have had the following children:

  1. Sarah A. “Sallie” York (1867 - ) Likely named in honor of Andrew Jackson York's sister, Sarah Elizabeth York.
  2. Anna “Annie” T. Bethel York-Brown (Born: January 1869 in Franklin Co. Georgia - Died: 1929 in Florida).2) Likely named in honor of Andrew Jackson York's mother, Anna Banks Thomason-York. Anna “Annie” T. Bethel York married Dr. Charles S. Brown.3) 4)
  3. George H. York (Birth: February 1871 in Franklin Co. Georgia - Died May 1958 in Tampa, Hillsborough, Florida) 5)6) Likely named in honor of Andrew Jackson York's brother, George W. York.
  4. John M. York (Born: Birth 1873 in Franklin, Georgia - ) 7) Likely named in honor of Andrew Jackson York's brother, John H. York.
  5. James R. York (Born March 11, 1876 in Franklin, Georgia - Died: 1967 in North Carolina) 8) Likely named in honor of Hannah's brother, James Ronald Randal.
  6. Fannie J. York (Born: 1878 in Franklin Co. Georgia - ) 9) Likely named in honor of Andrew Jackson York's sister, Frances Evaline York.
  7. Ira York (Born: March 3, 1880 in Franklin Co. Georgia - ) 10) Likely named in honor of Hannah's brother, Ira Wilbur Randal.
  8. Infant son (Jan. 1, 1882 - June 1, 1882); Buried in “Clarks Creek Baptist Church Cemetery” Martin (Franklin County) Georgia.11)
Because the name “Andrew Jackson York” was fairly common in the South during this time (e.g., there was another “Andrew Jackson York” born near Franklin County; in Rabun County Georgia during 1848), some amateur genealogists confuse the “Andrew Jackson York” - of Franklin County, Georgia, with other Andrew Jackson Yorks. As evidence that our “Andrew Jackson York” was born in Franklin County, Georgia, here is his 1850 U.S. Census Record. Some time between the 1850 U.S. Census and 1860, his family moved to Alabama 1860 U.S. Census Record.

On November 20, 1861, Andrew Jackson York enlisted in the CSA 11th Georgia Calvary, Company D.
