Origins
You may be surprised to see the title of our genealogy as the “Bull-Randall Family”. This is because the surname of our ancestors was originally “Bull”. Families with the Bull surname have been fraught with surname changes to Buhl, Buell, Boyle, Turnbull, and in our case – Randall. Interestingly, even after John Bull changed our surname (in 1803), different family members have spelled the name as Randal (the original), Randol, Randle and Randall. This was largely because, during the 1700's & 1800s, if a word “sounded” the same, then the spelling was not considered important.
Our family originates in Great Britain… with Thomas Bull, Sr.
The Coat of Arms shown in the upper left corner of this site is NOT necessarily from our ancestral line of “Bulls”. There are several Bull families. The Coat of Arms used was one that I personally found most aesthetically pleasing.
For a “quick” overview of the Bull-Randall-Randle family, read "THREE HUNDRED YEARS OF BULL ~ RANDAL ~ RANDLE HISTORY" - Revised August 2011 (compiled by Mary Lou Randle Roberts).
How To Use This Site
← If a living relative (yourself, parent, grandparent) is listed on the sidebar, click on their link to get started. Once their page is displayed, you will find links within their profile taking you to their ancestors… or forward to their children.
If you would like to explore a specific ancestor not listed in the “Navigation” (sidebar) display, click on the “Sitemap” for a list of ALL the people listed in this wiki (so far).
If you want to learn how you're related to someone on this site, input your relationship to a common ancestor using the “Cousin Calculator” at: http://www.searchforancestors.com/utility/cousincalculator.html
This wiki is a work in progress…
Maternal Lines
Because this site is focused on the Bull-Randall family paternal line, the “Navigation” (sidebar) is limited to listing direct family members. Adding the maternal lines would become quite lengthy. However, some maternal lines may be included in this Wiki (linked from the paternal ancestor - or located through the “Sitemap”). There is a great deal of information available elsewhere on the family lines who kept the Bull surname.
