Son of Isom Maret (1792–1865) and Phoebie Walters (1795-1861), Joseph Maret was born on Sept. 19, 1824 in Hart County, Georgia.
Joseph Maret married Sarah Ann Holland. Sarah Ann Holland (June 11, 1830 - May 2, 1882) was the daughter of unknown parents.
