You may be surprised to see the title of our genealogy as the “Bull-Randall Family”. This is because the surname of our ancestors was originally “Bull”. Families with the Bull surname have been fraught with surname changes to Buhl, Buell, Boyle, Turnbull, and in our case – Randall. Interestingly, even after John Bull changed our surname (in 1803), different family members have spelled the name as Randal (the original), Randol, Randle and Randall. This was largely because, during the 1700's & 1800s, if a word “sounded” the same, then the spelling was not considered important.

Our family originates in Great Britain… with Thomas Bull, Sr.

The “Navigation” (sidebar) is limited to following the paternal line of the Bull-Randall because adding the maternal lines would become quite lengthy. However, some maternal lines may be included in this Wiki (linked from the paternal ancestor - or located through the “Sitemap”). Also, this site is focused on the Bull-Randall family line. There is a great deal of information available elsewhere on the family lines who kept the Bull surname.
