At some point between the 1900 and 1910 U.S. Census, Jeremiah Gose (Jerry) Madden's older brother, Labourn Hamilton Madden and his wife Mary Elizabeth Griffin Randall Madden (the widow of [[elisha_burrell_randall|Elisha Burrell Randall]], and mother of [[thomas_doomous_dumas_randall|Thomas Doomous (Dumas) Randall]]), moved much of their family to Childress County, Texas. After Jerry died, Sue Jane, as an active member of the Decatur First Baptist Church (located just down the street from her small home), ran a boarding house for men attending her church. The boarders slept in the an attic room.
