Son of James Franklin Mealer Brady and Emma Cordelia Simmons-Brady (March 31, 1880 - July 15, 1966), Ernest Lawton Brady was born on Aug. 8, 1918 in Wolf Pit (Stephens County), Georgia.

Some time after the 1920 U.S. Census, James Franklin Brady moved the family to Centerville (Elbert County), Georgia.

Ernest Lawton Brady married Nettie Irene Simmons (Aug. 29, 1915-Aug. 13, 1999), daughter of Russell Oscar Simmons and Maude Louella Crenshaw-Simmons.

Ernest Lawton Brady and Nettie Irene Simmons-Brady had two daughters:

1. Shirley Patricia "Patt" Ann Brady (b. June 9, 1938 – d. Sept. 28, 2006)
2. DeLores Jane Brady (b. Dec. 22, 1947 )

Ernest Lawton Brady died on Sep. 3, 1987 in Toccoa (Stephens County), Georgia and was buried at “Stephens Memorial Gardens” in Toccoa (Stephens County), Georgia.¹⁾

Irene Brady died from Alzheimer's disease on Aug. 13, 1999. She was buried in Toccoa Cemetery, (Stephens County), Toccoa, Georgia. ²⁾
